Missio Dei is a Latin Christian Theological term that encapsulates God's missional emphasis and man's responsibility. Mission is a key factor in Christianity; acknowledged as a chief mechanism for preparing the world for time without end with God. This has been the thrust of the Church for ages. However, in this contemporary time, the church is apparently lackadaisical in its ability to reach the unsaved. The imperative “Go ye, therefore, and make disciples of all nations” is collapsed to a negotiable undertaking, where the sent is the definer of the parameters for engaging in missions, not the sender. Thus, this paper discusses and applies Paulo Freire's Educational Pedagogy of the Oppressed in light of Jesus' call, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” as a method for practical mission. The emphasis on mission is recurrently used in the figure “Fishers of Men”. In attaining the goal of the study, a qualitative research method was used, utilizing analytical, descriptive, historical, and biblical explanative approaches. The findings of this study revealed definitely, strategies that the Church could adhere to, for effective mission and mission emphasis. This paper concludes by highlighting succinct applications from Freire's Pedagogy which are not to be taken as a substitute for the Holy Spirit leadership in missions, but to emphasize the urgency of mission.
